IISP Approach

Funded under the Co Donegal Peace III Action Plan this project was delivered by IDP between November 2010 and May 2011. This project focus has been on Consultation, Collaboration, Consolidation and Capacity Building. This has involved exploring need, barriers, existing services and approaches to interpretation. It has involved a wide range of partners and was about building on what already had happened at a countywide level in supporting interpreting needs in public information and service providers. This included building capacity of people who wanted to train as community and court interpreters; building capacity of participants who are interpreters including those trained previously under IDP and HSE; and capacity building of front-line staff of information and service providers on ‘Working Well With Interpreters’. The project was a great success in building the knowledge and skills base for County Donegal and meeting interpretation needs into the future. This site hosts a database of interpreters trained through the project and available in the County. All are OCN accredited.
