Are you looking to make a change in your career, explore new training opportunities, or find meaningful employment in Inishowen that makes a difference? Then the Green Futures: Education, Skills and Jobs Fair could be for you.
Taking place at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana, on Tuesday, 20th October from 10am to 2pm, the free event will connect jobseekers, students, career changers, employees, businesses and members of the public with education providers, employers, and organisations working at the forefront of the growing green economy.
Organised by Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP) in partnership with ECO Inishowen, the event brings together key stakeholders, including educational institutions, businesses, local agencies and organisations focused on reducing carbon emissions, minimising waste, generating clean energy, promoting environmental wellbeing and supporting a sustainable circular economy.
Sinead McDaid, Team Lead with IDP said they are delighted to be opening doors and showcasing the wide range of opportunities that exist within the green economy locally.
“From renewable energy and sustainable construction to regenerative agriculture, environmental conservation and blue innovation, the fair will showcase the diversity of opportunities and training developing across the sustainability sector,” said Sinead
Confirmed exhibitors include Atlantic Technological University (ATU), South West College, Donegal ETB, Ballyhaise Agricultural College, Efficient Renewables, Inishowen Rivers Trust, Donegal County Council, Donegal Bees, Irish Farmers Association, True North Electrical, CAFRE and many others.
There will also be representatives from the Green Accelerator Skills Programme (GRASP) at the event. GRASP is a PEACEPLUS-funded initiative designed to address growing green skills shortages within the construction sector. Delivered through a cross-sector partnership including South West College, ATU, Donegal ETB and several further education providers across the region, GRASP offers a wide range of accredited training opportunities in areas such as retrofit skills, heat pump systems, photovoltaic solar technology, sustainable construction and many more.
“GRASP provides fully funded Green Skills courses for employed people who are interested in upskilling in the sustainability sector,” explained Denise McCool, fellow IDP Team Lead.
“We are delighted that they are attending the Fair and it will be a great opportunity the general public as well as employers in the room to connect with them to have their staff to be upskilled for free.”
In addition to employers and training providers, several local environmental and community organisations will also be present, providing information on conservation projects, biodiversity initiatives and volunteering opportunities across Inishowen.
The event offers an opportunity for anyone interested in environmental action to discover what is happening locally, connect with like-minded organisations and find meaningful ways to contribute to a more sustainable future.
” Whether you’re a student planning your future, someone considering a career change, an employer looking to recruit, or simply interested in learning more about sustainability, the Green Futures Education, Skills and Jobs Fair will have something for everyone,” added Denise.
Doors open next Tuesday 20th October at 10am. All welcome no prebooking required.
IDP are co-delivering this event with support provided through their PEACE PLUS Inishowen Is Ours programme focused on Climate & Biodiversity Project delivering under Theme 3: Building Respect for all Cultural Identities.
