Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP) is encouraging businesses, community organisations, social enterprises, and local champions to take part in the Connectsus Sustainable Food Communities Programme, a new initiative focused on building healthier, more resilient, and sustainable food systems across the Inishowen region.
The programme, delivered through Taste 4 Success Skillnet in partnership with University College Cork (UCC), will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders to explore current food sustainability challenges and opportunities while developing practical solutions that benefit local communities, businesses, and the environment.
As a collaborative partner in the programme, IDP is keen to support local participation and ensure that Inishowen’s voice is represented in shaping the future of sustainable food development in the region.
A key outcome of the programme will be the co-creation of an Inishowen Sustainable Food Charter, providing a shared vision and framework for future action and collaboration. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute directly to this process while gaining valuable knowledge, skills, and connections.
Building Stronger Local Food Communities
Throughout the programme, participants will explore a range of topics including sustainable food systems, local food networks, circular economy principles, food waste reduction, and community-led approaches to food sustainability.
The programme also offers opportunities to:
- Connect with businesses, community groups, and individuals who share an interest in sustainable food initiatives.
- Learn from sustainability experts and successful Irish case studies.
- Develop leadership skills and practical tools to support local action.
- Contribute to a growing network focused on strengthening food sustainability across Inishowen.
