Vital Voices to Light Up Buncrana Cinema with Intercultural Celebration

Buncrana Cinema will host a powerful evening of poetry, music, and storytelling on Tuesday, October 21st at 8pm, as part of Vital Voices, a free event celebrating intercultural expression through word, story, and song.

Organised by Donegal County Council Arts Office and ChangeMakers Donegal, and supported by Creative Ireland, the event brings together a diverse lineup of artists from Ireland and beyond. Admission is free, but tickets are required.

The evening will feature performances by acclaimed sean-nós singer and activist Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, Palestinian-Irish musician Aziz Abushark, and his father Dr. Asad Abushark, a poet and human rights advocate. Also taking part are Donegal poet Denise Blake, local storyteller Keith Corcoran, and emerging Nigerian poet Anne Omodara, now based in Donegal.

A highlight of the evening will be a vibrant performance from the EMBRACE Project, featuring the dynamic Sollus Highland Dancers and two outstanding musicians: Tom Byrne, a virtuoso of both the diatonic and chromatic harmonica as well as the button accordion, and Tracey McRory, a multiple All-Ireland Fiddle Champion and renowned harpist.

The EMBRACE project – a cross-border cultural collaboration developed by the North West Cultural Partnership, in partnership with Inishowen Development Partnership, and funded by the International Fund for Ireland. The project focuses on building lasting, meaningful connections between communities across the border through creativity and shared cultural experiences.
