INISHOWEN’S newest Community Employment Supervisor said the new CE Scheme will open up more opportunities for people to gain employment in the evolving Healthcare Sector in the peninsula.

At the end of last year, the Department of Social Protection (DSP) in collaboration with Inishowen Development Partnership (IDP) launched the new Health and Social Care Community Employment Programme, which is the first of its kind across the country.

Many participants have already signed up to the scheme, however opportunities are still available. If you are aged over 21, have been unemployed for 12 months or more and have an interest in getting into the growing health and social care, this scheme may be of interest to you.

Shauna Gallagher has come onboard as the new CE Supervisor with IDP and is managing the scheme from their Buncrana office.

Shauna says there is great opportunities for sustainable employment in the Healthcare Sector in Inishowen and the new CE Scheme is a great way to get experience while also working towards your QQI qualification.

“There has never been a better time to get involved in the growing health and social care sector in Inishowen,” said CE Supervisor Shauna.

“And with IDP’s Health and Social Care CE Scheme, you can gain valuable practical experience while completing a Major QQI Award free of charge at a pace that would be suited to someone who was re-entering the workforce,” she added.

There is a total of 18 caring position available through the Health and Social Care CE scheme and there are currently active placement opportunities in Buncrana, Carndonagh, Clonmany and Moville.

Thomas Timlin, local DSP Community Development Officer, said they were delighted to team up with IDP to roll out the new CE Programme in Inishowen.

“The New Health and Social Care CE programme is a great opportunity for those interested in pursuing employment in the Healthcare sector,” said Thomas.

“This Community Employment programme provides the opportunity to have a work placement in the local area combined with continued training and development to achieve the QQI Level 5 award in Healthcare.”
