AN inspirational talk with a leading national commentator and author in Carndonagh later this month is set to ‘motivate and provide hope’ to environmentalists, community activists and the wider public across Inishowen.
ECO Inishowen’s ‘Wild Talk’ with Éanna Ní Lamhna will take place in the Colgan Hall in Carndonagh on Tuesday, September 10th at 7.30pm. It is free to attend and open to everyone – whether you are part of a local environmental group or just interested in making a change.
Organised by Inishowen Development Partnership [IDP] and ChangeMakers Donegal, the event is a follow on from the ‘Eco Inishowen: a Celebration’ event held in the Colgan Hall last August.
Denise McCool Team Lead with IDP says this event will be a great opportunity for local people and groups to come together, connect with each other and hear what is set to be an inspiring talk from national TV and radio presenter Éanna.
“We are delighted to have someone of Éanna’s stature coming to Inishowen to speak to our people about nature, and environmental and climate change challenges and solutions,” said Denise.
“We hope that it will give our local groups, who are doing such great work on the ground throughout Inishowen, a chance to take a step back, listen to Éanna and hopefully inspire them to continue on their journey to protect, preserve, regenerate and rewild our environment.”
As well as being a popular broadcaster, Éanna is also a decorated author and the President of the National Tree Council. She will also engage with local groups during her visit to Inishowen and plant some new trees.
Éanna will also be taking part in ChangeMakers Donegal Elder Tree Project, which aims to highlight how life was more sustainable in the past.
Project Coordinator Myra McAuliffe said they are delighted to speak to Éanna about her life to date and her inspiration behind becoming a leading environmentalist.
“We are delighted to feature Éanna Ní Lamhna in our Elder Tree Oral History Series. In these online interviews we reflect on how life was lived more simply and more sustainably in the past,” explained Myra.
“In this case it will be interesting to hear how Éanna experiences to date have shaped her. We’re confident her perspective will be inspiring to local change makers in Donegal as we all work to create a more sustainable community in the face of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss”.
